Costes Cupboard DD-5513
product description
The Costes Cupboard, designed by Tosca Design for Cattelan Italia, is a masterpiece that embodies the intersection of classic form and ingenious detailing. While retaining the timeless quality of a storage cabinet, it also features a number of unique design touches, transforming practical furniture into an aesthetically pleasing addition to the space. The cabinet's doors are crafted from high-density solid wood, treated with a matte wood wax finish, giving it a warm, light-brown sheen. A touch of the wood's natural grain reveals its natural undulations, creating a timeless, timeless look reminiscent of time-honored classic furniture. The rounded glass edging the door panels is the finishing touch: the transparent glass not only softens the heaviness of the solid wood but also creates a "window of light and shadow" within the cabinet. When crystal glasses or bone china tableware are displayed, light refracts through the glass, intersecting the contours of the cups and plates with the wood grain, transforming the storage area into a miniature exhibition hall, seamlessly bridging practicality and aesthetics. The addition of vertical metal strips imbues the cabinet with a sense of rhythm: Slender strips are arranged at equal intervals across the cabinet door. Their cool metallic sheen contrasts sharply with the warm tones of the solid wood, yet remains effortless. When sunlight shines obliquely across the cabinet, the strips cast narrow shadows on the wooden door, slowly shifting with the light, breaking the dullness of the solid-colored doors and imbuing the otherwise static cabinet with a dynamic visual rhythm. Even more ingenious is the echo of the Y-shaped legs and door panels: crafted from solid wood, the Y-shaped legs elegantly branch out from the base of the cabinet. Their diagonal outline creates a visual connection with the subtle diagonal grain of the door panels, enhancing the cabinet's geometric beauty while also supporting the weight with a stable triangular structure, avoiding the bulkiness of traditional straight legs and giving the cabinet a deceptively light yet sturdy appearance. As a central storage unit in the kitchen or dining room, its meticulous attention to detail is evident in every use case. In the dining room, the cupboard can be layered to display tableware, with the delicate grain of the bone china visible through the glass edging. In the kitchen, the upper tier accommodates baking tools, while the lower tier houses pots and pans, with the gaps between the metal bars revealing subtle gradations of color within. At dinnertime, with the dining room lights on, the glass edging reflects a warm yellow light, the metal bars shimmer, and the Y-shaped legs cast soft shadows on the floor. At this moment, the Costes Cupboard becomes more than just storage; it becomes a "practical aesthetic" woven by Tosca Design through meticulous detail—one that not only meets everyday storage needs but also imbues the space with a timeless yet vibrant quality through its unique design.
